Business PowerHour will be held on Tuesday, May 19th from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Lunch and Networking kicks off at 11:30 AM and the presentation begins at 11:45 AM. Our guest speaker will be representatives from the Heart of Texas Regional Advisory Council (HOTRAC). TOPIC: Stop the Bleed with HOTRAC. The Heart of Texas Regional Advisory Council (HOTRAC) works with EMS providers and hospitals in the Heart of Texas region to provide injury prevention education and patient outcome improvement. One of the courses we promote is Stop the Bleed, also called Bleeding Control. HOTRAC personnel and representatives from BSW-Hillcrest Hospital, Ascension Providence Hospital, and Kickstart CPR will be on hand to help teach the Stop the Bleed course. This course is designed to teach any citizen how to care for themselves or other people experiencing traumatic bleeding. Stop the Bleed will include a presentation about recognizing and stopping potentially life-threatening bleeding, followed by practicing the techniques of applying pressure, packing a wound, and applying a tourniquet. We will also share information about how to schedule Stop the Bleed training anywhere in our community because The only thing more tragic than a death, is a death that could have been prevented.
