Business to Education Industry Tour Day

Description

Industry tours and job shadow days are held during the Fall and Spring semesters. We connect students and teachers in our programs with company host sites to explore high demand and growing jobs in our region. Through these activities, students and teachers gain valuable insight on the skills and education needed for high demand jobs. Targeted industries for tours and job shadowing include advanced manufacturing, logistics/distribution, aerospace/aviation, and healthcare.

Industry Tours and Job Shadow Days are designed to be mutually beneficial to schools and businesses in the following ways:

• Allows students to explore potential careers and jobs and help build occupational knowledge.
• Exposes students to job opportunities and careers with local companies, as well as the required skills and education to be successful.
• Increases student/teacher awareness of the products/services local companies provide and the role they play in the community.
• Fosters an understanding of how academic concepts are applied in a real-world setting.
• Give students the opportunity to interact with adult professionals and practice observation and communication skills.
