The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. In 2016, we celebrate 125 years of being in service to McLennan County and Waco. The church's message is based on the Bible. It's ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
The Salvation Army in Waco/McLennan County operates a men's emergency shelter, a family, women's and children's emergency shelter, a community kitchen that operates 365 days a year and feeds dinner every evening to the hungry and hosts a devotional every Sunday morning for breakfast. The Salvation Army Waco also helps with Social Service issues surrounding housing, rents, utility payments, homelessness and breaking free of homelessness, works with addictions and runs a Food Pantry M-F as well as a Family Thrift Store at 4721 W. Waco Drive that is a fundraising arm for the work we do with the homeless. The Salvation Army is also a Christian church holding services on Sunday at our location at 1225 South I-35 Frontage Road, Waco, TX. The church also offers children's programs including a music program that is open to all.
Our operation is fueled by volunteers and we are always looking for community partners.
